A reader of my blog asked me to do a simple write-up about deliverance. Not that this topic is so simple as to be exhausted in a couple of words, for ‘deliverance’ can mean different things depending on who uses it and how.

Sin: The Problem with the World
Living in a broken world? Of course, we are. The evidence is not far from you. Remember the person you have always wished you were? Well, not yet. That campaign ad that seeks to ‘make the world a better place’ surely suggests the world as it is, is broken. And that Judge was recently appointed to ‘mend’ the broken judicial system, which itself exists for no other reason than to dose your broken morality. Even hospitals exist to fix us just as well as mechanics do your bike. Your other friend? Well, she no longer picks your calls because she is ‘heart-broken’. And you should have known better.
The Gravity of Presumptuous Sin
Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression. Psalm 19:13
Yesterday in our weekly small group fellowship we were looking at Job 13:1-12. Job’s friends have heard of his suffering and came to comfort him. At first they sit with him in silence, for a week, perplexed and pained to see their good friend thus.
