A firm fortress is the Lord to those who trust Him,
Repelling the enemies’ darts against the defenceless
With joy, God fills the hearts of the poor to the brim
And those that humanity rejected He does bless … A Firm Fortress is the Lord
Cursed Christians?: Answering Objections
Christians cannot be cursed. I argued so in my previous article. If to be a Christian is to be God’s son and daughter, then who can bring a curse against God’s elect (Rom 8:33)? Nay. We are free in Christ, no longer Satan’s prisoners (Jn 8:36, Gal 5:1). God himself ‘delivered us from the domain of darkness’ (Col 1:13), and who can turn it back (Is 43:13)?
Can Christians Be Cursed?
Birungi is distressed. At 40, she remains unmarried. With a high-paying job, she is a well-educated Christian who believes that Jesus died for her sins. At her age, she has attended many weddings, including those of her close friends. Recently, driving home from one reception and alone, Birungi ponders her plight. ‘Maybe it’s true; perhaps I am cursed’ she mutters to herself, silently sobbing.
Thank You, Ravi
Ravi Zacharias. A mind that allured me to Christian Apologetics like a honeybee enchanted by nectar. His heart exhibited unmistakable honesty as his humour made his rather challenging concepts relatable. But above all, his love for the Lord shone through every word he spoke, piercing the hardened hearts like the sun’s ray crashing through a crack in a prison cell.
What Mbonye Misses about God’s Power
The reader of the Gospel of Mark must mark the stark contrast between Jesus’ view of His kingdom and that of His immediate disciples. While Jesus descends from the throne to the cross, His disciples only imagine their comfortable ascension to their thrones.
Coronavirus and Humanity’s Interconnectedness
If the Coronavirus pandemic highlights anything, it is that to be human is to be interdependent, finite, and dependent. This virus has thrown a tiny spanner into humanity’s project of self-procured immortality, independence, and self-reliance.
A Response to Mulera
I write in response to Muniini K. Mulera’s article Time to ordain women bishops in the Church of Uganda, published by the Daily Monitor of March 3, 2020.
Does God Need Man’s Permission to Act on Earth?
There is a popular and perilous rumour around, inspired by the late Myles Munroe and Benny Hinn. It says that the Sovereign of the universe requires man’s permission to do anything on earth. ‘The only creature that God gave authority in the earth, legally to, is a spirit in a dirt body,’ maintains Munroe. ‘Any spirit without a body is illegal on planet earth’ he says, before remarking that ‘even God Himself is illegal on earth.’
When Forgiveness is Hard
God is a person that forgives iniquity, transgression, and sin. This truth is deeply embedded in the revelation of God’s character to Moses on Mount Sinai (Exodus 34:7).
Truly Free
If God bore your sin to the tree
Then, brother, you are truly free
If Christ carried your curse to the cross
Then, sister, you are forever reconciled
