If God bore your sin to the tree
Then, brother, you are truly free
If Christ carried your curse to the cross
Then, sister, you are forever reconciled
Forget those who speak of your papa
Who say, ‘their penalty for sin you suffer!’
Remind them that surely God is your Father
So, may they take this theology no further
Our fleshly fathers indeed did sin
For, Adam’s sin didn’t leave the scene
But that was before God changed my story
That, was before He turned my shame into glory
Thus, I do not say that sin goes unpunished
Nor do I mean to disown my parents
I am just saying that God died in my place
The Son of God cleared my messes
So, if God bore my sin to the tree
Then, my friend, I am truly free
If Christ removed my curse far away
Then, I must believe and follow His way
